This bookstore, library-reading room, research area and classroom was located originally on the north side of Chicago at 2546 No. Halsted Street. It carried materials for reading and purchase about international issues, especially struggles for justice and liberation around the world. There was also a meeting room that could hold 80 people. The New World Resource Center (NWRC) was run by a collective, which had some overlapping membership with the Chicago Anti-Imperialist Collective, which existed primarily to provide personal and educational support for its members. There also was overlap of members between the New World Resource Center and the Chicago Committee for the Liberation of Angola, Mozambique and Guinea-Bissau (which later changed its name to Chicago Committee for African Liberation). Some other Chicago groups were affiliated with the Center, including Chicago Action Group for the Liberation of the Americas (CAGLA), US-China Peoples Friendship Committee, North American Anti-Imperialist Coalition, and the Prisoner Support Group, which distributed NWRC materials free to prisoners. For a time in the early 1970s, the New World Resource Center had a relationship with the American Committee on Africa to distribute ACOA liberature. By the time of its tenth anniversary, the Center had moved to 1476 West Irving Park.
