The Mozambique Support Network (MSN) was formed after a meeting in Washington, D.C. in September 1987. It was made up of organized groups and individuals in various regions and cities throughout the United States. MSN promoted and conducted educational campaign, fundraisers, medical and emergency aid drives, and other humanitarian efforts. MSN viewed Mozambique as being under siege from the South African-backed Renamo (sometimes called MNR or Mozambique National Resistance). Many members of MSN had spent years working in various parts of Mozambique. MSN groups existed in cities ranging from Boston to San Francisco, to Des Moines and Seattle. The national office was in Chicago. (Source: various MSN documents and newsletters)
