Neighbors Against Apartheid was founded in the Park Slope area of Brooklyn in 1984 when it was learned that people on President Street between 7th and 8th Avenues we letting a film crew make promotional films for South Africans. Members of Neighbors Against Apartheid helped form Brooklynites Against Apartheid (BAA). BAA did work on South Africa, Namibia and the Frontline States. For several years, it was involved in weekly leafleting of banks, Mobil, and British Airways. BAA was opposed to U.S. citizens making money on apartheid.
