The Coalition for Illinois' Divestment from South Africa (CIDSA) was formed in June 1983 to push for the passage of a divestment bill in the Illinois State Legislature. CIDSA led the state-wide effort for divestment of companies doing business in South Africa, primarily focuses on public funds. After CIDSA achieved its main goals of divestment by the Illinois and the city of Chicago it ceased to exist and members formed the Chicago Committee in Solidarity with Southern Africa (CCISSA).
