Description: The collection includes material of the Southern Africa Relief Fund (1970-1971) and the Pan-African Liberation Committee (1972-1974). The Southern Africa Relief Fund (SARF) was established by a group of concerned Black people to provide monies for food, clothing and other forms of humanitarian relief in Southern Africa. SARF focused on eight nations, Angola, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, Cape Verde Islands, Sao Tome and Principe, Rhodesia (Zimbabwe), South Africa and South West Africa (Namibia) that were dominated by European minorities. The Pan-African Liberation Committee campaigned to boycott of Gulf Oil because of its exploitation of oil in the Portuguese colony of Angola. The collection includes a small amount of material of the African Youth Movement for Liberation and Unity.
