Members of the congregation who had lived in Zimbabwe (then Southern Rhodesia), Gabon, and Mozambique formed this committee to engage in educational and organizing justice activities about Southern Africa. The commmittee worked with other congregations and community organizations in Madison, including the Madison Area Committee on Southern Africa, which its members helped to form. The Committee presented lectures, film showings, workshops, and study groups; supported stockholder actions against IBM for its work in South Africa; protested showing South African Government Information Service films on local television stations, and linked with other protestant congregations on Southern Africa issues.
