The U.S. Out of Southern Africa Network was initiated in February 1985 by the All-People's Congress and the People's Anti-War Network. The organization targeted U.S. multinational corporations and banks that invested in apartheid South Africa. It held picket lines in front of companies including Mobil Oil, United Technologies, Kodak, General Motors and others. It viewed the struggle against apartheid as anti-imperialist and connected to struggles in the U.S. for jobs, equality and human needs. The organization also worked to build support for the national liberation movements of South Africa and Namibia, the African National Congress (ANC) and the South West Africa's People Organization (SWAPO).
