The African Liberation Solidarity Committee was apparently a short lived organization that was formed to campaign for boycott all Portuguese wine in Ithaca with a focus on a new wine called Allegría. The African Liberation Solidarity Committee operated out of the office of the Rest of the News (ROTN) which made radio programs related to the campaign. Members of ROTN were key members of the African Liberation Solidarity Committee. Heublein Wines, Allegria's parent, selected Ithaca as a test market Allegria apparently because the city, which houses Cornell University and Ithaca College, has a large student population. Other organizations involved in the campaign were the Southern African Liberation Committee, the African Students Association and the Attica Brigade.
