The Southern Conference Educational Fund (SCEF) was a civil rights organization that worked closely with the Student Nonviolent Coordination Committee (SNCC). Originally based in New Orleans, Louisiana, the organization moved to Louisville, Kentucky in 1973, and later to Atlanta, Georgia. SCEF was in Louisville during its known Africa work. SCEF organized a conference to stop the importation of South African coal held on February 1 and 2 in 1975 in Atlanta, Georgia and remained involved in the issue for a period of time. (Source: The
