The Committee for a Free South Africa was an anti-apartheid organization based at the University of Houston. It was an organization of Houston-area activists that was formed at the initiative of the Houston branch of the African National Congress (ANC). The Committee for a Free South Africa may have been stated by students but also functioned as a community based organization. The organization continued to exist until sometime after South Africa's first democratic non-racial elections in 1994.
