The Coalition Against Apartheid was an anti-apartheid organization at the Fullerton campus of California State University (CSU) formed in the mid-1980s. The organization changed its name to Coalition Against Apartheid and Human Rights Violations probably in the fall of 1988. When the organization first started it was a genuine coalition of existing student organizations, and was well-represented by members of the Young Democrats, Black Student Union, and the student chapter of Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán (MEChA) at CSU Fullerton, as well as assorted individuals. In the late 1980s the Coalition Against Apartheid and Human Rights Violations was more of a tight-knit group of friends and acquaintances.
