Students Against South African Apartheid (SASAA), a group at North Carolina State University (NCSU) in Raleigh, was formed in March 1985 by Alex Matthews and Ken Vickery. SASAA campaigned to get the NCSU Trustees to divest the university’s Endowment Fund of stock of companies doing business in South Africa. SASAA circulated a petition calling for divestment. In October 1985 SASAA hosted a state wide, conference, march and rally on South Africa's system of apartheid on NCSU campus sponsored by North Carolinians Against Apartheid.
