Students for Economic and Racial Justice (SERJ) was a student anti-apartheid organization at the University of California Berkeley that focused on getting the university to divest from companies doing business in South Africa. In 1979 SERJ, along with Stop Banking on Apartheid, CAL PIRG (California Public Interest Research Group) and Berkeley Citizen Action, supported a referendum requiring the city to remove its funds from banks lending to South Africa; the referendum past on April 17, 1979.
