The War Resisters League (WRL), founded in 1923, is an explicitly secular organization working for nonviolent revolution. WRL is the U.S. affiliate of War Resisters International. In 1975, WRL opposed foreign intervention in Angola. In 1978, WRL endorsed the U.S. tour of Drake Koka, general secretary of the Black Allied Workers Union (BAWU) of South Africa, organized by the Drake Koka Tour Committee. In the 1970s and 1980s, WRL worked with various anti-apartheid organizations to link Southern Africa, Central American, and peace movement solidarity work.
