The Springfield Committee to End Apartheid was an anti-apartheid group based in Springfield, Massassachusetts. In December 1978 as a result of a picket Max Kay Jewelers agreed to stop selling the South African gold coin the Krugerrand. In January 1979 following a protest of the sale of blouses made in South Africa by Steigers, a chain of clothing stores, Mr. Steiger agreed to take the blouses off the racks and not to sell other South African goods in the future. Frances Crowe was a founding member.
