Founded in 1971 by Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., Operation PUSH (People United to Save Humanity) was dedicated to improving the economic conditions of black communities across the United States. Operation PUSH was involved in anti-apartheid and African solidarity campaigns. In 1984 Rev. Jackson established the National Rainbow Coalition which sought equal rights for all Americans.
