Washtenaw County Coalition Against Apartheid (WCCAA) was formed in the fall of 1977. WCCAA included people from the community and the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. WCCAA educated and organized about U.S. corporate support for apartheid in South Africa, including the Polaroid Corporation and Ford and General Motors. WCCAA did outreach to labor groups beyond Washtenaw County, in Flint and Dearborn. Members frequently advocated corporate withdrawal from South Africa at Board of Trustee meetings of the University of Michigan.
