The Research Group for the Liberation of Portuguese Africa was a student group at the University of California, Riverside (UC Riverside) that supported African struggles for independence in Guinea-Bissau, Cape Verde, Angola and Mozambique. The organization produced leaflets and organized films and speakers; it grew to about 75 people. The group was particularly interested in Amilcar Cabral and the PAIGC’s revolution in Guinea-Bissau, and it raised a modest amount of funds for that struggle. (Source: Ronald H. Chilcote, a professor at UC Riverside, who brought Eduardo Mondlane to colloquia at UC, Riverside and UCLA in 1968 to stimulate campus interest in the African revolutionary struggles in the Portuguese colonies. This trip led to the formation of the organization.)
