The L.A. 435 Observer Committee to Namibia was formed to support SWAPO in the lead-up to the independence elections in Namibia in November 1989. The organization continued until sometime after Namibia's independence from South Africa in March 1990. The objective of the L.A. to Namibia Committee was to develop educations and forums on the Namibia elections and independence, to gather financial support for SWAPO in preparation for the election process, and to send two observers to Namibia and obtain sponsors to enable more observers to go.
