The African Students' Association at Oregon State University (OSU) initiated campus anti-apartheid activities in 1980 by demanding the enforcement at OSU of the international sports boycott against South Africa. The campaign succeeded when Oregon wrestling exchanges with South Africa were stopped in 1982. The African Students' Association continued anti-apartheid educational work on campus until the state divested public funds from South Africa in 1987.
