Women Against Imperialism (WAI) was launched by the Women's Caucus of the Bay Area chapter of the Prairie Fire Organizing Committee. Participating in social movement endeavors from reproductive justice to internationalist solidarity and political prisoner support WAI brought feminism to the anti-imperialist movement, and anti-imperialism to the feminist movement. Two members of WAI were involved in the formation of Campaign Against Apartheid, a student group at the University of California, Berkeley that was a major player in the campaign to get the University of California to divest from companies doing business in apartheid South Africa. Material of the organization is available on The Freedom Archives website.  (Source: Women Against Apartheid Oral History Project website; and William Nessen, a former member of the Campaign Against Apartheid.)
