The Southern Africa Solidarity Campaign (SASC) was launched in 1976 in response to the Soweto Uprising. SASC supported all movements fighting against apartheid and for liberation in Southern Africa, whether these operated inside the various countries or in exile, and no matter the form of their action. SASC supported mobilizations organized by other organizations including the Anti Apartheid Movement. SASC also identified with the emerging trade unions in South Africa. SASC worked as part of the Zimbabwe Emergency Coordinating Committee. (Source: Peter Alexander, national secretary of SASC.)
