The Hawaii Committee for Africa (HCA) campaigned to get the University of Hawaii and the state pension fund to divest from companies doing business in South Africa. In large part as a result of the HCA’s efforts the University did divest from some companies. And the state pension fund adopted divestment two weeks before the release of Nelson Mandela.
