Black Student Coalition Against Racism

Duration: Unknown, existed in Spring 1986 - Unknown
Location: Pennsylvania, United States

The Black Student Coalition Against Racism (BSCAR) was an anti-apartheid group at Pennsylvania State University (PSU). Mr. Marlon Curtin, a member of BSCAR, testified before the United Nations Special Committee Against Apartheid on June 27, 1986. It is not known which campus of PSU the organization was based. Most likely the organization campaigned to get PSU to divest from companies doing business in South Africa.  (Source: Carlton Waterhouse, a former member of BSCAR; and UNITED STATES STUDENT MOVEMENT AGAINST APARTHEID: HEARINGS AT UNITED NATIONS HEADQUARTERS, NEW YORK, 27 JUNE 1986, Notes and Documents, United Nations Centre Against Apartheid, available on this website under Special Committee Against Apartheid.)
