Americans for Democratic Action (ADA) was founded by Eleanor Roosevelt, John Kenneth Galbraith, Walter Reuther, Arthur Schlesinger, and Reinhold Niebuhr shortly after Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) died. ADA opposed support to the Portuguese military in the 1970s until the people of Angola, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde achieved independence.
