African Students for Angolan Liberation supported the MPLA (Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola) in Angola and opposed United States and South African intervention in Angola. African Students for Angolan Liberation was a member of the Angola Solidarity Coalition and provided its political leadership including Ernest Wamba (Zaire/Democratic Republic of Congo), Jordan Gebre-Medhin (Eritrea), and Ahmed Issa (Tanzania).
