Brochure about the Africa Resource Center (ARC) and the services it provides to help people learn about the diverse continent of Africa and its importance in world affairs. The non-profit ARC is located in downtown Oakland; it has an extensive library open to the public, a speakers’ bureau, and a literature center. It provides help with classroom programs, research projects, community meetings, and union and religious educational events. $top Banking on Apartheid, which is based at the Center, can help you find out who really profits from your bank account and whether the bank is lending to South Africa or redlining your neighborhood. The Center is West Coast distributor for the New York-based American Committee on Africa (ACOA). The brochure includes quotes about the Center by Hon. Ron Dellums (D-CA, Congressional Black Caucus), Abdul Rahman Babu (former Minister of Economic Planning for Tanzania), Frances Moore Lappe, (Institute for Food and Development Policy, author of "Food First, Diet for a Small Planet"), and Judy Spelman (RN, President, SEIU Local 723).
