Memorandum about the campaign to get the Michigan State University Foundation to divest from companies doing business in apartheid South Africa. The memorandum says the May 21 meeting was attended by Bill Derman, Dave Dwyer, Pat and Frank Beeman. The memorandum says all CARAC members are urged to attend the Trustees meeting at 1:15 PM in the Board Room, Administration Building-posters will be supplied for those wishing to hold them. The memorandum says at this point, Sharon Peters, Ass't . Sec. of State and President of the MSU Black Alumni, will present a letter or resolution to the Board-tentative plans are for students to present a resolution for the Trustees to send to the Foundation urging divestment and possibly a resolution or letter from the Office of Black Affairs. The memorandum says All CARAC (Coalition Against Racism and Apartheid on Campus) members are asked to write to the State News to point out their editorial of May 17 against divestment is wrong. The memorandum says the TIAA-CREF campaign is basically on hold until fall term.
