Refugee Clothing Drive For Victims of South African Apartheid
by Champaign-Urbana Coalition Against Apartheid
Urbana, Illinois, United States
Undated, apparently Fall 1978
This leaflet says in conjunction with the United Nations High Commission on Refugees and in the United Nations "Year of Actions Against Apartheid" the Chicago Peace Council is initiating a drive to collect clothing for refugees from South Africa. In South Africa men, women and children are refusing to submit to a brutal system of racial discrimination. For this many have been gassed, beaten and wounded. Many are in prison. Fearing for their lives, many now seek refuge in nearby Botswana, Angola and other front line states. They arrive wearing no shoes, and only shirts on their backs. Please help by donating clean clothing, in good condition, for men, women and children.
