The letter reports on a meeting commemorating FRELIMO Day in which U.N. representatives from many countries participated. Sharfudine Khan, FRELIMO representative in North America, announced that FRELIMO had opened a new front of the armed struggle in Manica e Sofala, and the letter includes excerpts from a message from FRELIMO President Samora Machel on this development. The letter says CFM has provided more than $5,000 in financial and material aid to FRELIMO and asks for support. [Note: This letter most likely was mailed with the September 1972 issue of News and Notes, which includes the full text of Machel’s message. It available as a separate document on this website.]
