This report summarizes growing opposition in several political arenas to any further loans to South Africa by the International Monetary Fund. The report includes developments inside the IMF, action by the U.S. House of Representatives on legislation needed for the U.S. to replenish its account at the IMF, and actions by Nordic governments, especially the Swedish foreign minister and the Norwegian Parliament.
