Memorandum from James Turner to ACAS Board of Directors. Mohammed El Khawas, Chris Root, Bob Cummings, Nzongola-Ntalaja and myself met at the African Studies Center at Howard University and it was the considered judgment of everyone that it would be impractical for ACAS to hold its annual conference this spring, when there are at least a couple of meetings on southern Africa scheduled for each month. The group recommended postponing the meeting until the fall, possibly on September 18-19. An executive meeting is needed this spring. This meeting would allow the executive committee to meet with Allen Isaaccman, who has expressed an interest in assuming the position of Executive Secretary, which would be a great contribution to ACAS.
