Copy of a letter to Bryant Gumbel of NBC Sports about the controversy about the Davis Cup tennis match to be held in Newport Beach because a team selected on a racial basis is competing from South Africa. A major demonstration will be staged outside the tennis stadium. A packet of material explains the reasons for the protest against playing this match. Dennis Brutus, head of the South African Non-Racial Olympic Committee (SAN-ROC) and a major spokesman in the international movement to isolate South Africa, will be in the Los Angeles area; a press release about his speaking engagements and press conference is enclosed. The letter expresses hope that NBC will giver proper coverage not only to the Davis Cup match, but also to those who oppose it.
