Memorandum to "The Assembled Ministers/ Rabbis/ Priests" from the Bay Area Free South Africa Movement inviting them and their congregations to join others in the San Francisco-Oakland area to take actions to express concern about the escalation of atrocities in South Africa. A number of ministers, priests and rabbis of the Bay Area will perform an act of civil disobedience on January 21, 1984 to witness their moral outrage at the evils of apartheid and U.S. support of that system. You are invited to join in this action and subsequent arrest by the Oakland Police. Also, please announce in your churches the wearing of a RED RIBBON to symbolize "STOP APARTHEID." Also, please announce the six-week picket line at the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA). We encourage you to convene meetings of clergy and lay people to define your own way ways to oppose South Africa's apartheid and U.S. support of this system.
