[Dear Conference Participant]

Mailing signed by Ronald Walters and Inez Reid. The mailing says plans are now underway to publish the proceedings of the African-American National Conference on Africa which was held in May 1972 at Howard University; given the historic nature of this conference, it seems imperative to compile a fairly comprehensive record of the two day meeting; it is important that the myth of a Black American disinterest in Africa be dispelled through a public record of the African-American National Conference on Africa. The mailing says we are therefore, hereby requesting your permission to include your remarks in the projected volume; currently, the statements of conference speakers are being transcribed by the steno-typist; unless you prefer to submit a revised copy of your presentation, we will work from the transcription, suggest any necessary stylistic changes, and submit a draft to you for approval. The mailing says since we hope to get the volume out as rapidly as possible - with early Fall as a target - we would appreciate hearing from you as soon as humanly possible; we will., of course, do everything in our power to ensure an accurate reproduction of your remarks.
