A Call by the Africa Network for International Support Action to commemorate the anniversary of June 16, 1976 (when hundreds of young people were shot in the streets of South Africa) on International Human Rights Day, June 16-June 19, 1988. Actions should be determined locally; rallies, demonstrations, pressures on State and Congressional Representatives, and sympathy strikes and stayaways could all be effective. The Africa Network proposes that proceeds of outreach activities be donated as humanitarian aid to the liberation movement in South Africa. The document also lists Africa Network information packets on the following topics: the Covenant Program Against Apartheid, the cultural boycott, divestment, education, films/video, freedom charter, labor military aggression, political prisoners bracelet program, sanctions, post-apartheid South Africa, Soweto, and the United Democratic Front.
