Copy of a letter to Michigan Governor William Milliken from the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR) communicating that many members of the ICCR board were pleased that the Michigan legislature passed House Bill 4553 which requires state educational institutions to divest from corporations that operate in South Africa. The letter urged the Governor to promptly sign the bill. The letter says one focus of ICCR’s work is to educate Americans, including its own constituency, about the issue of South Africa and the role that U.S. banks and corporations play in strengthening white minority rule in South Africa and Namibia.
