The Anti-Apartheid Movement USA Washington Area-Chapter reports in its newsletter that it is participating in a coalition organizing a rally on Angola at the U.S. Capital on January 19. It also reports on a resolution in the City Council to boycott all future city purchases from four corporations - ITT, IBM, Control Data Corporation (CDC), and Motorola. The Corporate Action Project and D.C. Anti-Apartheid Committee for Selective Purchasing are working on this campaign. The D.C. City Council will hold a hearing on the resolution on January 20. On January 22, the chapter will hold its next strategy meeting at All Soul’s Church. The newsletter discusses Congressional hearings on U.S. involvement in Angola, the Tunney Amendment, covert action in Angola, recognition of the People’s Republic of Angola, Agostinho Neto, and use of U.S. tax dollars.
