An Open Letter ... CAMPAIGN TO CHALLENGE BANK LOANS TO SOUTH AFRICA AND KRUGERRAND BOYCOTT
by Chicago Coalition on Southern Africa
Chicago, Illinois, United States
Undated, early April 1977
An open letter announcing the Chicago Coalition on Southern Africa’s participation in a nation-wide challenge to bank loans to South Africa. The mailing says the campaign seeks to prevent American banks from perpetuating apartheid by granting loans that support the white minority government. The mailing asks people to demonstrate on April 15 and 25 at the shareholder meetings of the First National Bank of Chicago and Continental Illinois Corporation because of their continuing to make loans and to sell Krugerrand South African gold coins.
