The press release says the Midwest Coalition Against Apartheid is calling for a demonstration against South Africa at the General Motors Building in Detroit on December 14, 1984. General Motors is a target because of its economic alliance with South Africa; included in the target list are other multi-national corporations like IBM, Burroughs, and Ford Motor Company. The Coalition also is sponsoring a program at the New Bethel Baptist Church in Detroit on Sunday, December 16. December 16 commemorates the so-called Battle of Blood River, now renamed Heroes Day, the date on which Umkhonto weSizwe, (Spear of the Nation) was launched in 1961. The press release says contact Kgati Sathekge, Robert Norfolk.
