The Friends of Annie King
Personalized mailing to Christine Root and David Wiley seeking to raise money for Annie King and to advertise an event on February 14 in New York City at the residence of South African Ambassador Dumisani Kumalo to celebrate Annie's contributions to the struggle for human equality and justice, and, together with other African and American activists, found a political home at ACOA/Africa Fund and helped to liberate the continent. The mailing says to have worked at ACOA and The Africa Fund over the past 3 decades was to have known and loved Annie King; she was the one who somehow juggled the bills to make payroll when times were particularly lean; you could count on Annie to stay until the last the last placard was dry, the last letter was stuffed, or the last name card was ready for tomorrow's conference; in fact you couldn't make her leave!; Annie's role in the struggle for freedom started early, first with the Congress of Racial Equality against American apartheid, and then with ACOA in support of Africa's liberation; now the New York offices have been restructured and Annie is moving on to new challenges.
