THREATENS DIVESTMENT LAWSUIT • The newsletter says the Ann Arbor City Council on June 13 unanimously passed a resolution declaring June 16, the seventh anniversary of the Soweto uprising in South Africa, to be "Soweto Day" in Ann Arbor. It reports that H.B. 4516, state legislation which would require the divestment of public employee pension funds, has been endorsed by the Michigan State Employees' Union and the Ann Arbor News. The newsletter discusses the International Monetary Fund, H.R. 1693, the Export Administration Act, bank loans to South Africa, the Krugerrand, the Sullivan principles, Rep. Carl Pursell, Francis Spaniola, the Michigan House of Representatives, Rep. Bullard, the South Africa Foundation, and John Chettle.
