The press release contains a communique issued by the Committee that was established in pursuance of Security Council resolution 253 (1968), which, among other things, imposed mandatory sanctions on Southern Rhodesia. The communique said the Committee received information at its June 29 meeting from the American Committee on Africa (ACOA) that three shipments of Southern Rhodesian nickel were imported into Baltimore and about these other vessels and their arrival dates: AA African Sun on April 10, 1972, SS Mormacove on April 29, 1972, and SS Hellenic Leader on May 15, 1972. A U.S. government representative at the same meeting confirmed these shipments and said that the U.S. government would information the Committee of future shipments on a quarterly basis.
