The Prairie Fire Organizing Committee was an anti-imperialist organization that opposed American imperialism. Much of the work of the organization focused on international solidarity. The organization supported MPLA in Angola in the second half of the 1970s opposing South African intervention in the country and U.S. support for UNITA and South Africa’s intervention. The Prairie Fire Organizing Committee attended the Angola Seminary in Cuba (February 26-March 1, 1976) where U.S. activists met with members of the MPLA. The Prairie Fire Organizing Committee supported the Pan Africanist Congress (PAC) in the struggle against apartheid. The organization appears to have had chapters in a number of cities.
