Eduardo Mondlane Stichting (EMS) (Eduardo Mondlane Foundation) was founded in 1969 to provide material support to the liberation movements of the Portuguese colonies. After the end of Portuguese colonialism EMS provided support to the newly independent countries. In 1997 EMS was one of three organizations that merged to form the Netherlands Institute on Southern Africa (NiZA).
