The Divest Now Coalition was a student anti-apartheid organization at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. The Divest Now Coalition campaigned to get the University of Illinois to divest from companies doing business in South Africa. At one point 60 people were arrested at a meeting of the University of Illinois Trustees. The Divest Now Coalition built shanties on the campus. The Divest Now Coalition worked with the Champaign-Urbana Coalition Against Apartheid (CUCAA); see the description and material of CUCAA on this website. [Note: there was an organization of the same name at the University of Illinois in Chicago; they were separate organizations.] (Source: Jeff Machota and Sia Lindstrom, former members of the Divest Now Coalition; video of a Divestment Panel accessed June 15, 2016)
