The image shows a soldier holding a small child with two hoes and two grain plants. The Patriotic Front in Zimbabwe was a coalition of two political parties: Zimbabwe African Peoples Union (ZAPU) and Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU) which had worked together to fight for majority rule in Rhodesia. The Patriotic Front boycotted the elections held in 1979 held by Ian Smith. Later in 1979 they worked together in the Lancaster House negotiations that led to the independence elections in 1980. This button may have been produced by the Patriotic Front. (Size: 1-1/4 inches across.)
