Initially produced for an April 1988 program with the UAW in New York City to kick off the Free Mayekiso campaign. The artist is Josh Brown. Moses Mayekiso was appointed Secretary General of Metal and Allied Workers Union (Mawu) in May 1986 and, two months later, arrested under the Internal Security Act and charged with treason. While in jail he was elected Secretary-General of the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA). There was a strong international campaign for his release including by the U.S. auto union the UAW. In December 1988 he was released on bail and founded innocent in April 1989.
