One side (not visible) of this dual-purpose poster advertises instructional material, produced by the AABN Education Group shortly after the Soweto uprisings for use in education centers and secondary schools. A number of study packets were meant as an antidote against what was labeled the 'racist talk' which was actively circulated among schools by the South African embassy. The visible side gives information on apartheid, Sharpeville and Soweto, bantustans ('Thuislanden', with a map), the pass laws and miserable housing conditions of mineworkers, with quotations from Vorster, Luthuli and the Freedom Charter. Members of the group offered to come to the schools themselves for discussions with teachers and classes. This item was digitized by the International Institute of Social History in the Netherlands, which made it available to the African Activist Archive.
