BOYCOTT RHODESIAN CHROME, END RACIST OPPRESSION IN RHODESIA (ZIMBABWE)
Picket against the importation of Rhodesian good and in support of African liberation at Packer Marine Terminal. There were pickets organized the Coalition to Stop Rhodesian Imports on a number of dates in February, March, June and July. This may be a picket of the ship named the Austral Patriot which the Coalition believed was carrying goods from Rhodesia. The coalition campaigned against imports from Rhodesia, including Asbestos, Chrome, Beryllium, that were imported to the U.S. under the Byrd Amendment in violation of United Nations sanctions against Rhodesia. This could have been the picket of the African Dawn on July 26, 1974. (On the Austral Patriot see the document DON'T UNLOAD RHODESIAN CARGO by the Coalition to Stop Rhodesian Imports, June 1974, available on this website)
